ABOUT DR WILK

From disease control to health and healing

Since beginning my medical training over 25 years ago, I’ve been on a journey to better understand health and health care. As soon as I began to look after patients with longterm health conditions, something about the conventional medical model didn't sit right with me. Despite many groundbreaking advancements in treatment, my patients seemed to be trading symptoms for side effects. The sole focus was on controlling, or even fighting disease, rather than nourishing the body and nurturing the health within each of us. This was a system of disease, not health. And so began my search for a better model of care. Combining functional medicine and embodiment practices has helped me to develop evidence-based care that attends to the whole person: body, mind and spirit.

In an effort to help manage the effects of chronic stress on long term illness, I have completed training in Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy with the highly regarded Karuna Institute. Please visit my Craniosacral information page to learn more about this powerful therapy.

My journey towards helping patients address the impact of adverse early childhood experiences on their longterm health has led me to undertake training with Dr Gabor Maté in an immersive therapeutic approach called Compassionate Inquiry. I have deepened this process through my experience with Diamond Approach as taught by A.H. Almaas. I have found that engaging with our bodies with curiosity can serve as a powerful gateway to trauma integration and healing.

I am also very pleased to be studying herbalism with Sajah Pophum, a gifted and truly holistic herbalist, and I integrate this knowledge into my clinical toolkit.

I am excited to be able to offer people the kind of ethical care I’ve long been searching for.
